When Courtney and Ryan called, we knew it was going to be good news. Only a few months ago we photographed the couple’s maternity session on their family’s farm in Calvert County, Maryland. We were so happy to hear that their daughter was born! When Ryan asked us if we could do another session, this time with their newborn, Aurora, we were so eager and just couldn’t wait to meet her.
We met this brand new family for an early morning Newborn Session at the same location as before. Fitting, because it’s also the site of their upcoming wedding in September! Trust us, you will not get tired of seeing this location. Talk about making movie-like memories on the family property! After introductions and a little wooing over the beautiful little Aurora, we enjoyed the magnificent, soft lush grass and fresh air. We choose to include their colorful wedding flower garden (do you remember, from the maternity blog post, that Courtney’s sister is growing flowers just for the wedding?) and the vibrant red rustic barn which will host some of their future wedding festivities.
As most of newborns are photographed right in their cribs, this time we did something different. We focused on the connection between parent and child from a different perspective. It was certainly unique for us to photograph a part of a newborn family session outdoors! Luckily, the weather held up too (it’s been quite rainy in this region lately).
Then, we resumed the photo-taking in the comfort of their home with their oldest child, the Yorkie, Harley. It was cute to see Harley interact with Aurora. We think he already has the protective older sibling vibe going on. It felt good capturing these more intimate moments in black and white, and we think it fits the mood quite nicely.
Congratulations to Courtney and Ryan and their entire family! Thank you for allowing us to document this special moment for you. We cannot wait for the wedding!!!
