Alyssa and Courtney‘s Virginia Crossings Wedding was an elegant family affair. We were honored to spend the weekend at this location and we are so grateful of their hospitality. We will always remember this destination weekend fondly!
When Alyssa and Courtney first approached us about covering their wedding, we knew right away how fun this down-to-earth duo would make this event. We were so excited for it all year! We’ve known Courtney and her family for quite some time and they are some of the finest folks we know. After we met Alyssa, we were all instantly friends and couldn’t wait for them to become wife and wife!
We took the trip south to Glen Allen, Virginia (near Richmond) where Alyssa‘s family is from, on a Friday evening. The luxurious rooms and accommodations have been a favorite of Alyssa’s family for many years. In fact, it is family tradition to come to the Virginia Crossings for brunch. Everything from the food to the service and staff were top notch, and worthy of many kudos! After getting settled in the on-site hotel, we joined the couple for their rehearsal and then dinner. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family and felt right at home with everyone.
On the day of the wedding, the couple choose to do a private First Look as their wedding party quietly peeked and cheered them on through a window. It was so sweet to see Courtney‘s reaction at first glance at Alyssa’s beautiful ballgown. Both overwhelmed with emotions, all they could do is smile at one another while holding hands.
The ceremony was sweet and was set against the evening sky and the surrounding picturesque golf course. The ceremony itself was performed by Alyssa’s dad… the first we’ve seen done by a parents (super adorable!) It even included a dear quote from Peter Rabbit! At the conclusion of the ceremony, the wedding party went right into cocktail hour where the hors d’oeuvres and cocktails were plentiful.
In the dining room, the burgundy and gold place settings accented the colorful tall floral centerpieces and really set the tone for the evening’s fine dining. Along with a beautiful sunflower covered cake, there were many Italian style dessert cookies and even some delicious Cannoli.
For their reception, what’s better, post formalities, than to dance your booties off to 80s, and 80s inspired music?! When we say this couple likes to dance is an understatement. The floor was filled and the party was a blast!
