Southern Maryland Wedding: Kaitlyn & Matt

What can we say about Kaitlyn and Matt’s Southern Maryland Wedding? Well, first off, we loved it a little extra! That is because Kaitlyn and Matt are part of our large extended family. To be specific, Kaitlyn is our cousin-in-law… the point is that we’ve known her since she was a little girl and we couldn’t be happier to see her all grown up and marry the love of her life.

Since their life, family, and careers are all based in Southern Maryland, it was only fitting that they chose a local venue to hold their wedding. Alie photographed their engagement session on a private beach in St. Mary’s County last season, so be sure to check out that post for the sweet story of how they met! Just like their engagement, the wedding was full of laughter. We just knew their wedding would be exciting and full of love. Plus, their Miniature Schnauzer, Koda made a quick appearance too!

The two started off getting ready at their family home. We acted as FBI security to make sure they didn’t see each other! Because it began to rain while we were taking photos, we were confined to the porch. But, you know what they say! Rainy day, lucky marriage! Next, the ceremony took place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. As a joke, Kailyn’s dad wrote “Help Me” under Matt’s shoes, so during the mass when Kaitlyn and Matt kneeled at the altar, we observed the crowd quietly point and giggle. He was unaware the entire time! LOL

Just right across the street, the reception was held at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department. Most noteworthy, which was decorated by none other than Richie’s sister and one of their cousins. Didn’t they do an awesome job?

It’s so wonderful to attend a wedding where we know almost all the guests. It sure makes for an enjoyable time! Even more, we get to take funny photos of everyone. Like when the bride and groom decided to smash the cake on their maid of honor and best man!
