When we met Gillian & Ryan for their Southern Maryland Mini Session in Port Tobacco we had no idea that Gillian was the step-daughter of one of our dear photographer friends, Shantel. A Facebook message inquiry led to a spur-of-the-moment booking and a morning filled with many shared stories and laughter. It actually wasn’t until the very end of the session that we suddenly realized the connection to Shantel as Gillian told us about her rock-star photographer step-mom. We liiiivvvee for random coincidences!!
At such a young age, this married couple has already been through so much. Ryan works for the Air Force and was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base. When Hurricane Michael hit the Florida panhandle this past fall, the base suffered billions of dollars in losses and the couple lost their home with most of their possessions.
With their house destroyed, the couple relied on support from their family and temporarily relocated to Southern Maryland.
During the session, the couple was so relaxed and laid back. It was awesome to see their positivity in spite of their recent loss. They were hopeful, confident, and cheerful – a win equation for a successful marriage if you ask us!
It’s a small world and every act of kindness goes a long way. We are so glad to have met Gillian and Michael and their resilience was very inspiring. We wish them the best of luck in rebuilding their home and starting a new adventure.
