If you ask us about a rain plan, let us tell you, we are prepared! Rubi and Cristhian’s Lincoln Memorial Engagement in Washington DC was so elegant despite the cloudy cover.
Planning an engagement session is a lot of work for couples. They need to coordinate outfits, sometimes take a day off from work, schedule hair and make-up appointments, etc. Then oftentimes, for locations such as Washington DC, a permit is required too. And one with a specified date and time on the application. If the weather is not cooperating, it can be a huge let down to have to postpone the session. We’ve had a stretch of rain here in the DC area for the past few weeks, but that didn’t stop us from getting some amazing photos in and around one of Washington’s biggest treasures.
For their engagement session, Rubi and Cristhian wanted to show their families and friends (especially those abroad) the beauty and grand scale that the Washington DC Mall has to offer. The Lincoln Memorial and its surrounding steps was a perfect choice. Can it really get any more monumental than this? Rubi & Cristhian did great and it was really great getting to know them. This couple was so cool to work with and they had a lot of creative input as well. We love when our couples are excited about photography and bring lots of ideas!
We were able to take cover under the Lincoln Memorial’s magnificent columns. Although we stayed fairly dry, towards the end we did brave the rain under an umbrella for a few photos. We even continued for some moody lit shots at the District of Columbia War Memorial symmetrical dome. We thought it made a great opportunity to use some creative lighting. We’re happy with the results.
This couple was incredibly fun to work with. They have a clear passion for life, for their families, and for each other. We’re excited to photograph Rubi & Cristhian’s wedding next year!
