A Magical Lake Champlain Wedding: Gena & Mat

Gena & Mat are married! This beautiful couple’s Magical Lake Champlain wedding was not only Harry Potter themed, but it was also filled with personality. Taking place at the family vacation home in upstate New York, just north of the Adirondack state forest, the lake and the surrounding mountains made this a wonderful place to be. Even more, we could almost see the Canadian border!

First of all, the couple is actually from our local area in Maryland. After shooting their Southern Maryland Engagement session at a local dive bar last year, we knew that lots of jolly things awaited us. They are so much fun and Gena is all smiles all the time! Plus, we love it when we get to put on our destination wedding photographer hats!

The real surprise of the day was Mat’s best man, Bo his Pitbull and best friend. Bo sported his own little tuxedo and sat like a champ for groomsmen photos. Be sure to look for him on the porch!

One of our favorite moments was at the start of the ceremony. Gena walked out to Nicki Minaj’s “Moment for Life” and made her grand entrance! To sum up, Gena surely sparkled in the crowd! Dressed in an ivory gown, with rhinestones and vintage pearls from her grandmother, all cheering faces were turned in her direction.

As the catering choice, the couple enlisted the help of a Vermont favorite, Open Hearth Pizza We’ve got to tell you, we are self-proclaimed pizza experts, and this pizza is among the top 5 we’ve ever had in the US states!

Gena and Mat’s love for fantasy inspired their Harry Potter themed wedding reception at their backyard tented affair. And just like Marvel’s Gambit & Rogue, we adore how these two really let their personalities shine through! From the home made centerpieces, complete with golden Ferrero Rocher snitches, and actual harry potter books as the bridal bouquets, we are loving all of the fun details! Subsequently, the décor was paired with navy and burgundy accents. How cool are the Harry Potter House Crests flags? We loyal to Hufflepuff, but have quite the affinity for Gryffindor.

We are so proud and honored to have been part of this day and we wish the couple a Happily Ever After.
